❗ 🌾 262 municipalities have officially declared drought in cereal crops during the second reporting period of the Agricultural Drought Monitoring System.

❗ 💧 Water stress is now visible on satellite images not only in the southeast, as before, but also in the northwest of the country—where drought has already been declared.

Download the full report for free here 👇👇👇

Drought in Poland - 3.06.2025

🌱 Time for the first drought situation report of the year in Poland 🌱

We analyzed official data from municipalities that reported drought conditions in the first reporting period (IUNG-PIB), along with weather and satellite data (IMGW-PIB, Copernicus). Here are the key facts:

🌾 Drought conditions in cereal crops were declared in 303 municipalities (approx. 12%). The most affected areas are in the northwestern regions of Poland.

☔️ From February to April, a precipitation deficit occurred in all voivodeships across the country.

💧 We’re observing very low soil moisture levels nationwide, particularly in eastern Poland. Since April, the highest levels of vegetation stress have also been appearing in the east, which will impact crop yields.

This is a major step forward in our mission to harness Earth observation satellite data and artificial intelligence to support the agricultural insurance sector. Our platform provides advanced tools for:

crop monitoring,

yield forecasting,

risk assessment.

Thanks to these solutions, insurers can reduce operational costs and tailor policies more accurately to the real needs of farmers.

GreenHaven at SatGISPlan 2025 – how satellite data supports agricultural insurance?

GreenHaven at SatGISPlan 2025 – how satellite data supports agricultural insurance

On February 27, we had the pleasure of participating in the SatGISPlan 2025 conference in Zielona Góra as both exhibitors and speakers. It was an excellent opportunity to share our knowledge and experience in using satellite data for drought analysis and agricultural risk assessment.

Our presentation: drought monitoring for agricultural insurance

During the event, we presented the topic:

“Multisensor drought monitoring for agricultural insurance risk assessment.”

How regional crop statistics help build client relationships in agricultural insurance

In the world of agricultural insurance, data is more than just numbers — it’s a true competitive advantage. Regional crop statistics can significantly support both acquiring new clients and building long-term, valuable relationships with them.

How exactly? Here are 6 key ways to use data in practice:

1. Risk identification and management

By analyzing data from specific regions, you can identify areas with higher risk of loss — for example, due to frequent droughts, hailstorms, or floods. This information helps tailor insurance policies and provide real support in difficult situations.

How NDVI helps assess crop conditions – technology serving agriculture and insurance

Modern agriculture is more than machines, fertilizers, and fieldwork. It’s also data, analysis, and satellite technology that’s revolutionizing how we observe and assess crop conditions. One of the most important tools in this area is NDVI – the normalized difference vegetation index.

Why is assessing crop conditions so difficult?

Large-scale farms are the norm today. But the bigger the field, the harder it is to assess its condition using traditional methods. Signs of drought, disease, or nutrient deficiency often appear locally at first — in areas that are hard to access directly. In such cases, we need a solution that lets us see the full picture — from above.

Drought: A climate challenge we cannot ignore 🌍

Drought: A Climate Challenge We Cannot Ignore 🌍

In the face of increasingly frequent extreme weather events, the question “Is drought a natural phenomenon or a real climate problem?” becomes more and more relevant. Although droughts have always occurred, their frequency, intensity, and reach have significantly increased in recent decades — and this is no coincidence.

📊 The Data Speaks Clearly

Statistics for Poland show a worrying trend:

🟢 1951–1981 – only 6 droughts: an average of 1 every 5 years
